ALEXANDRA BLACK MPH, RD, LDN
Alexandra is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist specializing in public health and sports nutrition. She has a B.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida and a Masters in Public Health from Boston University. Alexandra has been interested in nutrition and fitness from an early age, competing gymnastics for over seven years before moving on to pole vaulting. In high school she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which fueled her passion to study nutrition and become a dietitian. She went on to compete NCAA division I Track and Field at the University of Florida. While at Florida, she competed the pole vault and was part of the 2009 Southeastern Conference Championship team. Recently, she has run several 10 mile races and is now training for half marathons and CrossFit competitions.
Over the past two years Alexandra has gained experience in clinical nutrition at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and Radius Hospital in Boston and worked with NCAA division III athletes at Wheelock College. She is now the Health Promotion Manager at the International Health, Racquet, and Sportsclub Association, where she manages health promotion programs, monitors health promotion legislation, and communicates the latest research on the health benefits of exercise and diet for disease prevention in addition to running an employee wellness program. Recently she has been published in Training and Conditioning Magazine as coauthor of an article on Paleo nutrition for athletes and has been contributed several articles to Get Active! Magazine. She is also working with athletes at Renegade Rowing, a local rowing and CrossFit program.
